Adapt to Survive, Transform to Thrive

Lockdown has forced us to spend more time at home, where entertainment is limited. More and more people are turning to on-demand video streaming providers like Netflix, Amazon’s Prime Video and YouTube. Nowadays we take these services for granted, but there was a time when, to watch a film on-demand meant that you had to get in your car, drive to the local Blockbusters, hope that the film you wanted to watch was available, drive home, watch it quickly to avoid late fees and then drive back to return the video !

Thank goodness for on-demand video streaming. Or rather, thank goodness for companies that saw the potential of the technology when the industry leader at the time snubbed it. Now we can simply switch on the TV, laptop, tablet (or whatever device you use), find something that takes your fancy (or something recommended), sit back and enjoy !

It feels like Netflix has now established the dominant design for such services which others are following. So, it will be interesting to see if terrestrial television will be able to adapt to survive or in deed find a way to transform and disrupt in their favour.

What do you think ?
